What’s the movie about?

Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), an intelligent wing officer goes rogue. So Indian agency decides to take him down. To accomplish that, they appoint Khalid (Tiger Shroff), a student of Kabir. What follows is the cat and mouse game.

What Works?

Hrithik Roshan is back in action avatar after Bang Bang[Also directed by Siddharth Anand]. He fits the bill perfectly as Kabir. Hrithik, a naturally gifted talent , excels in each and every department be it acting or action. Tiger Shroff as Khalid shows an improved performance from his previous outings, especially in second half. Other standout performances worth mentioning are Ashutosh Rana and Anupriya Goenka.

Sidharth Anand, who has co written and directed the film, provides us a screenplay which holds us till the end. There are Twists and turns throughout the film which makes it more engaging. Cinematography by Benjamin Jasper is mind blowing, each and every shot looks neat.

Choreography of action sequences are splendid which is treat to watch on big screen. Action sequences involving Tiger Shroff’s introduction, Hrithik’s sequence in a plane and much talked about Hrithik-Tiger’s face off in climax are spectacular.

What Doesn’t?

Vaani Kapoor as Naina comes in an extended cameo has nothing much to offer. Performances from the rest of cast is not worth remembering because of limited characterization.

Background score by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara is average at best. Two songs composed by Vishal and Shekar are good but fails to add any value to the film. Editing by Aarif Sheikh could have been better as few scenes in first half drags the film unnecessarily.

Verdict: Overall, War is an slick action thriller with grand visuals and scintillating action. Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff have successfully managed to carry the film on their shoulders.

Rating:  3.5/5
