With no hits from past 5 years, Tamil star Suriya is currently going through a rough phase in his career.Known for his versatile performances in many successful films in the past,Suriya is finding hard to figure out the success formula in recent years.Fans of the actor got their heart broken when the highly anticipated NGK bombed at box office. With not much expectations for his next “Kaappan” all eyes are on his film with Sudha Kongara.Titled “Soorarai Potru”,the movie is taught to be a fictionalized version of the life of Captain Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan.
If we have to believe the words of Oscar Winning producer Guneet Monga, who is co producing the film along with Suriya’s 2D entertainment Soorarai Pottru has a very strong and compelling script. For those who followed the life of Captain Gopinath, this should not be a wonder as the man has gone through a life filled with ups and downs. From fighting 1971 war to owning a private airlines, life of Captain Gopinath is quite unique and sensational. In the sensible hands of Sudha Kongara who made a promising debut with “Irudhi Suttru/Saala Khadoos” which gave an entire new dimension to Madhavan’s career, Soorarai Pottru seems to be shaping up really well. With a solid cast and crew in the background one could hope that Soorai Pottru could finally give the much needed success to Suriya.
Soorarai Pottru stars Suriya and Aparna Balamurali in lead.GV Prakash is composing the music while Niketh Bommi will be handling the cinamatography. The movie is co produced by Suriya’s 2D entertainment along with Sikhya Entertainment. It must be noted that Soorarai Pottru marks the debut of Guneet Monga into Tamil films as a producer. Her production house Shikya Entertainment has produced critically acclaimed films like “The girl in yellow boots” and “The Lunch Box”.Her last production “Period end of silence” won an Oscar in the best documentary[Short Subject] category in the year 2019.Interestingly,this documentary is based on the work of Arunachalam Muruganantham who hails from Tamil Nadu.
